This is why we love French kitchens

This kitchen is full of light woods, grays, and blacks. We adore the contrast between the dark colors and the light wood. It has marble countertops, black hardwoods, stone tile backsplash, and a beautiful gold faucet. The kitchen island is absolutely fantastic, with its black accents and matching stool. The farmhouse sink is definitely a favorite.

ALL THE ELEMENTS – KITCHEN REFLECTS NATURAL LANDSCAPE
ALL THE ELEMENTS – KITCHEN REFLECTS NATURAL LANDSCAPE

Mirrored walls enhance the light, airy feel of this contemporary kitchen in a new house. They also reflect the view and landscaping. In place of a traditional splashback, there is a window looking into a courtyard. The bench is flush with the window, which is glazed to reduce ultraviolet rays and heat.

A Navlam timber veneer upstand appears to protrude through the engineered stone benchtop on the island.

The crisp, square-edged look of the cabinets reinforces the contemporary architecture.

Yes to this creative idea for a small kitchen and the dialog between styles generated by the designer!
                                                              Really?

Steampunk design emphasizes a balance between the form and function. Like the Arts and Crafts Movement, this blurs the line between tool and decoration. Various modern utilitarian objects have been modified by enthusiasts into a pseudo-Victorian mechanical "steampunk" style. The goal of such redesigns is to employ appropriate materials (such as polished brass, iron, wood, and leather) with design elements and craftsmanship consistent with the Victorian era, rejecting the aesthetic of industrial design. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SteampunkSteampunk is more and more present today in  bathroom design with shy features in kitchens, of course, except of this one.

Incredible Modular Kitchens!

The designers integrated much of the kitchen furniture and space surrounding it with wall paneling and simplified the geometry of the space.

In most cases, for one to be able to achieve a modern look, minimalism is advised by designers, which is a good thing. In this picture we are able to see that the white modular glossy cabinets go well with the black island.

This lovely Mill Valley home in San Francisco is made up of pure beauty. For one, the island is painted with black, semi-gloss and paired with a white granite counter which complement each other and looks great matched with oak for the flooring!

According to the designers themselves, Pedini has been producing sophisticated luxury kitchens since 1956 and has prestigious heritage – globally renowned as one of Italy’s best style-experts on a par with Gucci, Armani, Lamborghini and Alessi – and one of the first companies to produce the modular kitchen. The company experiments with a range of new and innovative materials and is known for the flair and creativity that it brings to the industry, interpreting that the luxury segment demands.

Have you noticed the cool bar stools available to this kitchen? Unfortunately, the manufacturers for these stools are no longer in business but looking at this item, we can say it looks great with the Caesarstone counter that is present in the island. The exposed beams look fascinating too.

COMMAND CENTRAL – A BUSY FAMILY GETS A NEW KITCHEN BY TONI ROBERTS

Designed by Toni Roberts CKDNZ, this new kitchen in a renovated villa features an equal mix of good looks and durable functionality

The island features a layered treatment. Stainless steel provides a hard wearing work surface, while the timber element plays to the aesthetics of the wider space.

A sizable scullery provides additional storage and preparation and clean-up areas. The durable stainless steel and mosaic palette has been continued through from the kitchen.

The open-plan space is the nerve centre of the home. With this in mind, Roberts created an office hub where day-to-day planning can be carried out. A similar treatment was given to this space so it blends in with the kitchen.

This airy kitchen by Utz Sanby Architects forms part of a house that is cooled by passive ventilation. Clerestory windows and shutters vent hot air while the sliding doors bring in cool breezes at both ends of the open-plan space.

The blue-grey zinc panels on the island merge tonally with the off-white perimeter cabinetry – painted the same colour as the walls to blend in. CaesarStone for the benchtop and splashback was also specified in complementary tones.

The exterior cladding folds into the interior and can be seen alongside the stairs that lead down to the entry and bedrooms. Clerestory windows and glass louvres right around the room give the roof a floating appeal. -

The rear wall includes integrated refrigeration, a large pantry and ample storage. Seating for four is incorporated at the end of the elongated island.

Veriset Küchen's Application of Laser Edgebanding

Innovation through Rehau's LaserEdge

As a leading Swiss kitchen furniture manufacturer, Veriset Küchen AG is committed to continuous innovation and new ways of thinking about both design and manufacturing. The company is known throughout Europe for its ability to tailor materials, shapes and aesthetics to individual customer requirements, while additionally delivering on a high level of overall product quality.
In early 2010, Veriset also became a pioneer as one of the first kitchen furniture manufacturers to adopt laser-welded edgebanding into its manufacturing process, using the REHAU LaserEdge technology in combination with innovative LASERtec machinery from Homag.

According to Veriset, “Innovations are an important part of our strategy, and it is key for us to stay on top of the latest trends in both design and production, as well as constantly work to maintain the highest quality of our end products. We quickly identified REHAU LaserEdge as an up and coming advancement that met all of these goals, and thus sought to incorporate it as soon as we could.”

Veriset has noted a number of immediate benefits from introducing laser-welded edgebanding, including a substantial cost savings.  “Naturally, without need for adhesives we are seeing material cost savings, and in addition our labor costs have been streamlined as we no longer need to negotiate steps to integrate the edgeband material, primer and adhesive.”

“As the optimum adhesive temperature no longer has to be set manually, we can achieve an automatic process stability that ensures an even higher quality of edgeband processing,” added Veriset production and logistics manager Josef Baumgartner.
In addition to an improved overall manufacturing process, Veriset attributes a new level of product quality to the durable, jointless nature of the laser-welded edge. “With a jointless weld between the edgeband and the board, we are no longer concerned with the discoloration or staining that can happen at the seam of a typical adhesive-affixed edgeband. This tighter seam also improves heat and moisture resistance, preventing the boards of the finished furniture from swelling over time. In addition, the space between the edgeband and board is virtually without transition, and makes it appear as if the cabinetry and furniture are constructed of one piece of material."

Home Lending Up But Not By Enough, says HIA.
A stronger set of housing finance indicators for April 2013 were released by the ABS today,(11 June 2013) although the result fell short of general expectations said the Housing Industry Association, the voice of Australia’s home building industry.
“Today’s figures show that new home lending for owner occupiers is tracking higher overall, but at a very moderate rate from a low base,” said HIA Senior Economist, Shane Garrett. “For owner occupiers, the aggregate number of loans for the construction and purchase of new homes was flat during April 2013, itself a disappointing outcome, but the number was 17.9 per cent higher than twelve months earlier.”
The number of seasonally adjusted loans for construction barely moved in April, rising by only 0.2 per cent, while loans for the purchase of new dwellings eased back by 0.4 per cent. The number of loans for established homes net of refinancing rose by 1.0 per cent during April and was 4.9 per cent higher than a year earlier.
In terms of owner occupiers, the value of loans for the construction or purchase of a new home rose by 2.5 per cent during April 2013 and was 20.1 per cent higher than a year earlier. Lending for established dwellings was a little weaker, with the value of loans falling by 1.6 per cent during April. Nonetheless, the value of lending for established dwellings was still 7.1 per cent higher than twelve months previously.
The investor side of housing finance provided a stronger result in April, driven by the existing property market. The aggregate value of loans to investors rose by 1.1 per cent in April. However, in a weak update the value of lending for the construction of new residential property fell by 13.3 per cent and was down by 8.1 per cent over the three months to April this year.
“The increase in investor activity with regard to existing property suggests that a view is taking hold that the market outlook is improving. However, residential investment in construction continues to languish near decade lows, a pointer to the disincentive to new home building attributable to excessive tax and regulatory costs,” warned HIA Senior Economist, Shane Garrett.
In April 2013 the total number of seasonally adjusted owner occupier loans for new home building (combining loans for construction and purchase of new dwellings) increased by 1.9 per cent in New South Wales and was up by 6.4 per cent in Western Australia, 3.7 per cent in Tasmania, and 2.0 per cent in the Australian Capital Territory. The number of loans for new homes fell by 5.7 per cent in Victoria, 1.1 per cent in Queensland, 0.3 per cent in South Australia, and 8.4 per cent in the Northern Territory.
